Tile meets click vinyl at a doorway: what belongs in the gap?
Measure gap and height difference at both jambs with the door in its working position. A flat trim cannot bridge every step.
Check the floating floor instructions
Confirm expansion clearance and how the profile is fixed. The door must clear the profile, which must cover edges without pinning the floor. A screw through a plank can prevent the intended movement.
When an elastic joint is allowed
Use one only if the flooring system permits it at that point. Otherwise choose a transition profile for the measured heights. A sloping bead disguising the difference does not make a stable threshold.
Measure on both sides
Rest a straightedge on the higher floor and measure down at each jamb. Note the available width with the door closed. Take the measurements and flooring reference to the profile supplier. Dry-fit before fixing.
What if the door rubs on the new profile?
Check with the profile in position and open the door fully. Do not reduce expansion clearance to lower the profile.
