Odour and emissions when sealing a room

Smell during curing does not measure emissions. Plan ventilation before opening the cartridge, especially in a bedroom or a bathroom with no window.

Read the product information

Check the safety data sheet and instructions for indoor use. If low emissions matter, look for a declaration for the exact product and use. “Neutral cure” and “low odour” are not emission ratings.

Check the exact OTTOSEAL S110 cartridge for its EC1 PLUS emission classification and suitability for your joint. The classification does not replace ventilation instructions.

Plan the work and the downtime

Prepare the surfaces and size the nozzle to avoid waste. Arrange ventilation and time out of use as instructed. Postpone the job if you cannot meet those conditions. A gun helps with dosing but does not change the product’s emissions.

Before opening the cartridge, try the Presch silicone gun in the tightest corner. Check you can turn your wrist and release pressure at the end of the run.

Keep the reference number

Compare the cartridge code with the emissions declaration rather than relying on the product family name. Keep the sheet and application date. An air freshener changes what you smell, not the curing conditions.

Is opening a window enough to sleep in the room again?

There is no universal waiting time. Follow the product instructions and consider actual ventilation throughout curing.
